Reception Co-curricular Sport Activities

To support a positive start to School life, Reception students begin their Formal Co-curricular Sport Program in Term 3. There may be opportunities for students who are ready to join in Term 2.

In Term 3 students select one after school skills program. Each program includes two sports and focuses on learning basic skills through fun and active sessions. These are not competitive matches. To ensure safety and quality coaching, each activity is capped at 30 students.

Reception students will take part alongside Year 1 students, who will be continuing in the same program from earlier in the year.

All Reception Co-curricular Sport sessions are held on Tuesday afternoons from 3.30 pm to 4.30 pm. Students will be escorted from their classrooms to their activity location. Families are asked to collect students at 4.30 pm from the training area.

Term 3
Four weeks across two sports – Football, Soccer, Netball and Basketball (8 weeks in total).

Term 4
Four weeks focusing on one sport – Cricket, Gymnastics, Tennis or Volleyball (4 weeks in total).

Year 1 Co-curricular Sport Activities

In Terms 1 to 4 Year 1 students select an after school sport program that offers two sports per term, excluding Term 4, and focuses on learning basic skills through fun and active sessions. These are not competitive matches. To support safety and quality coaching each activity is capped at 30 students.

All Year 1 Co-curricular Sport sessions are held on Tuesday afternoons from 3.30 pm to 4.30 pm. Students are escorted from their classrooms to their activity location. Families are asked to collect students at 4.30 pm from the training area.

Extension opportunities

While the focus of the majority of our Prep Co-curricular Sport is on participation, enjoyment and equal opportunity for all students, there are also pathways for those seeking an additional competitive experience.

Students in Years 5 and 6 may be selected to represent the School in Statewide Knockout tournaments across a range of sports. These teams are made up of students who demonstrate strong skill development, commitment and teamwork. Participation in these events offers the opportunity to compete against schools from across the State while proudly representing Westminster.
