Westminster Life - Term 3 2025

26 September 2025
Welcome to Edition 3 of Westminster Life

It has been another action packed term at Westminster.

Intercol was a true highlight, a celebration of spirit and tradition.

The way our students supported one another, and the respect shown to our competitors, reflected the very best of what it means to be part of our School.  This was exemplified by our Open Basketball team who having lost to Pembroke just the week before triumphed in the face of adversity.

So many of our students embrace opportunities for adventure and this was shown in our performing arts program with dance, music and drama productions showcasing the extraordinary talent of our students.

Our Show Team at the Royal Adelaide Show was another standout, showcasing the hard work, skill and love of Agriculture that is such a special part of Westminster.

As the year moves towards its close, we all will be able to share the milestone moments for our Year 12 students while we remember and celebrate their time at Westminster together.

With just a few weeks of School remaining before examinations, we hope that they all remember that the whole school community is behind them in their exams and their journey beyond school.

Old Scholars

Westminster Old Scholars Football Club Crowned 2025 Premiers!

This year has been historic for the Westminster Old Scholars’ Football Club (WOSFC’ Dragons’). Not only has the Club celebrated its 25th Reformation Anniversary with a Grand Gala for over 300 guests, the ‘Dragons’ have just claimed the 2025 Division 3 Premiership with a thrilling 62–50 Grand Final victory over the Unley Mercedes Jets. For the first time since 1974, the Dragons Men’s A Team will return the Club to Division 2 in 2026 — a remarkable achievement that highlights a remarkable season. Special congratulations go to Grand Final Best on Ground Aidan Ross (’21), whose efforts inspired teammates and supporters alike. Standout contributions from Harrison Lienert (’16), Isaac Willits, Riley Drum (’19) and Nicholas Leck (’16) ensured Westminster rose to the occasion when it mattered most. The Dragons, both Men’s and Women’s Teams, look forward to an exciting and challenging 2026 season, particularly with the rebuild of Glandore happening next year.

A Milestone in Westminster’s History: 25 Years of the WOSFC

The Westminster Old Scholars Football Club has grown from a bold vision into a thriving community where Dragons pride runs deep. At our 25th Anniversary Gala, we honoured inaugural players, reflected on the Club’s early days and celebrated unforgettable highlights from the 2000 premiership team.

We are grateful to everyone who joined us to mark this milestone and thank you for 25 years of unwavering support. Together, we look forward to continuing the Dragons’ proud tradition and welcoming new members into our family in the years ahead.

A Remarkable Old Scholars’ Week: Celebrating Connection and Legacy

This term, Westminster celebrated Old Scholars’ Week, a valued tradition that brings together past and present. Highlights included the Student Industry Networking Breakfast, Old Scholar Sporting Club activities, Prep craft sessions and assemblies. We are grateful to our Old Scholars for their generosity in sharing their stories and inspiring current students.

2025 Westminster Golf Day

Glenelg Golf Club provided the perfect backdrop for the 25th edition of the Westminster Golf Day, uniting our community for a memorable day of connection and friendly rivalry. Congratulations to our winning team — Alex Buhlmann, David Wallage, Paul Davison and Simon Shepherd — for their outstanding performance on the course. We are deeply grateful to all the golfers who joined us and helped make the day so special. The occasion was a true celebration of the strong bonds that define our Westminster community.

Marking 50, 55 and 60 Years

In 2025 we enjoyed a wonderful series of reunions, celebrating the Classes of 1965, 1970 and 1975. It was a pleasure to welcome so many Old Scholars back to School to reconnect, reminisce and share stories from their time at Westminster. Thank you for being part of it.
