Council Awards

One of the duties of Council is to recognise people who have made an exceptional contribution of their time and expertise to our School community.

This year, Council has had great pleasure in presenting two awards.

The first was a Westminster Service Award, presented to Josephine McGinley at the Prize Giving Ceremony, Thursday 23 November 2023. Josephine is a grandmother to Westminster students and received her award as an outstanding volunteer who, since 2010, has been generously sharing her wealth of knowledge and experience in fashion design and construction with secondary students studying Design and Technologies – Fashion. Josephine is also the inaugural recipient of this new service award.

The second award was a Life Membership of School Council, presented to Robert Patterson at a special Council luncheon held in his honour on Monday 4 December 2023. Life Membership of School Council is the highest honour bestowed by the Council to recognise a long-serving Member of Council. Rob served on School Council from 1998 to 2012, which was followed by a tenure on the Westminster School Foundation’s Investment Committee. Rob recently announced his retirement from that important committee to be effective from the last meeting in 2023.

In addition to recognising his outstanding service as a Member of School Council from 1998 to 2012, the citation of Rob's Life Membership Award continues with:

A member of the Council Executive for many years,

contributing valuable corporate experience, financial knowledge

and considered assessment for good governance,

generously extended to the Westminster School Foundation’s

Investment Committee (2012 to 2023) where his guidance has also been exceptional.
