General Excellence Scholarships

General Excellence scholarships are awarded to well-rounded students who demonstrate a high level of academic performance and achievement in one of more of the following areas: sport, performing arts, leadership and community service.

Applications close Friday 19 January 2024 at 5.00pm

All-Rounder (Year 6 entry)

The All-Rounder Year 6 Scholarship is available to new students entering the School in Year 6. Recipients will be able to demonstrate all-round excellence in academic and co-curricular pursuits, including sport, performing arts, service and leadership.

Application: Online submission and interview for short-listed candidates.
Benefit: 30% of tuition fees per annum from Year 6 until the end of Year 12.

Croser Scholarship (Year 7 entry)

The Croser Scholarship is available to new students entering Year 7. Recipients will display all-round excellence in academic and co-curricular pursuits, including sport, performing arts, service and leadership. The scholarship was established through an early bequest to Westminster from Lindsay Wilfred Croser, a Methodist farmer and founding donor from Warooka.

Benefit:
50% remission of tuition fees per annum from Year 7 until the end of Year 12.

Fricker Scholarship (Music, Drama or Dance)

The Fricker Scholarship is awarded annually to a new or existing student entering Year 7 at Westminster School. Applicants must be able to demonstrate a willingness and capacity to make a significant contribution to the performing arts in one or more of the following disciplines: Music, Drama or Dance. The scholarship was established through a bequest from the Frederick Thomas Trevett Fricker Estate.

Assessment: Online submission and audition for shortlisted candidates.
Benefit: 50% remission of tuition fees per annum from Years 7 to 12.

Thomas Scholarship (Year 7 to Year 11 entry)

The Thomas Scholarship is awarded to a new student entering from Year 7 to Year 11 to complete their schooling at Westminster. The scholarship intends to reward and encourage students who demonstrate a commitment to self-improvement, show tenacity and a strong work ethic, and who achieve consistently high performance in each of three areas:

  • Academics
  • Co-curricular involvement (particularly sport)
  • Community involvement.

The Thomas Scholarship recipient will be an all-round student who shows the potential to develop into a leader at Westminster and in the wider community. The scholarship is named in honour of Foundation Governor Darren Thomas, an Old Scholar from the Class of 1990, who generously set out to endow an all-rounder scholarship to afford the same opportunities he received while at Westminster.

Robert Fraser Scholarships (Year 10 or Year 11 entry)

The Robert Fraser Scholarships are awarded to new students entering Year 10 or Year 11 at Westminster. The recipients will display all-round excellence in academic and co-curricular pursuits, including sport, performing arts, service and leadership.

These scholarships are named in honour of Professor Robert Fraser, an Old Scholar from the Class of 1972, who became a world-renowned Professor Emeritus of Agricultural Economics at the University of Kent in the United Kingdom. Professor Fraser had an outstanding record at Westminster and is recognised as the School’s first Rhodes Scholar.

Benefit: 50% remission of tuition fees per annum from Year 10 until the end of Year 12.

Lawrence and Haese Maths Scholarship (Year 10 entry)

The Lawrence and Haese Scholarship is available to a new student entering Year 10, who excels in Mathematics and fulfils pre-determined criteria such as test results, performance in competitions and a selection interview. Scholarship holders must progress to study the two highest units of Mathematics at Year 12 and show a sufficient all-round ability to make the most of their opportunities at Westminster.

The Lawrence and Haese Scholarship is named in honour of generous Foundation Patrons Adjunct Associate Professor Mark Lawrence (Old Scholar from the Class of 1977) and Past Westminster Staff Members Robert and Sandra Haese, industry leaders and educational supporters of mathematical excellence.
