Community Groups

Community Groups

Westminster is renowned for the strength of its community and at its heart lie the community groups that work closely with the School to make Westminster a welcoming and vibrant home for students and families.

Friends of Westminster

Friends of Westminster (FoW) is the ‘umbrella’ committee for all the community groups. FoW brings together key members of the community groups each term to discuss and plan events, set budgets, and make decisions about allocating funds raised throughout the year.

Meetings are open to all and are held in different locations around the School, providing an excellent opportunity to meet other members of the Westminster community, learn more about the School you chose and perhaps consider how you could be further involved with our community groups. If working with a group is not your style, you can simply add your name to the volunteer list.

Each term, we email our volunteers about the events for which we would welcome help. If you can assist, whether it is regularly, once a term, or at an annual event, we will always be greatly appreciative of your generous involvement.

For more information about any of Community Groups, or to register as a valued volunteer, please contact the Development Office on T: +61 8 8276 0276, or via Email.

Parents' Club

This group is open to all, including mothers, fathers, friends, and grandparents.

The Parents' Club supports all School events during daylight hours, including Mother’s Day Stall, Father’s Day Breakfasts and Sports Days, just to name a few. They are the ‘welcome to all events’ group.

Friends of Music

This busy group is instrumental in supporting the concerts and activities of Music. The Friends of Music (FoM) regularly run refreshment and ticket sales at School performances and have helped raise funds towards Music tours and new equipment for use by our Music Department. Support groups also come together for Dance and Drama performances.

WAVE

Westminster Aged Vocal Ensemble is a choir for people who love to sing, regardless of their technical ability to do so. An offshoot of the ‘hibernating’ Westminster Aged Repertory Theatrical Society (WARTS), WAVE also performs at events on and off campus.

Boarder Parents' Association

Our Boarder Parents’ Association provides opportunities for the parents of our boarders to meet during the year to support the particular needs of students living away from home. A strong connection between Boarding and day families is important.

Involving Boarding students in family activities with non-boarding friends helps to alleviate the feelings of missing their own families. Meetings at Westminster and social trips, including our Boarder Parents' Weekend, are held throughout the year.

Foundation

The Westminster School Foundation is a charitable organisation established in 1987 to encourage philanthropy, coordinate fundraising, and manage investments to support Westminster School. The Foundation has three funds reflecting main areas of interest:

  • Education Fund, in support of Scholarships
  • Building Fund, in support of School building programs
  • Library Fund, for library learning resources

We invite and encourage Old Scholars, current families, and other members of the Westminster community to support and advance our programs for the benefit of our students.

For more information, please visit the Westminster School Foundation page.

WOSA

The Westminster Old Scholars' Association manages a program of activities and reunions for Westminster alumni. Our Old Scholars are very active in affiliated sporting clubs and in the overall life of the School.
