At Westminster School, we are committed to providing our students with plenty of space to learn, create and grow. That’s why we have developed the Westminster School Campus Masterplan. This major transformation of the campus will happen over a number of years and focuses on providing our School community with the best facilities, which help shape the pathways for our students to achieve more than they thought possible.
We are excited to welcome students from many year levels into two new buildings completed within the first stages of the plan. Our state-of-the-art Inquiry and Innovation Hub opened its doors in September 2020 with specialised learning facilities that encompass the Sciences (Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Psychology), Technology, Engineering and the omnipresence of Mathematics. In support of the School’s extensive sporting program, we have also unveiled our new Thomas Pavilion, providing athletes, families and supporters with a superb sporting base with commanding views over our playing fields and ovals.
Now underway, the next major project in the Campus Masterplan is the construction of a new home for Creative Arts and our Digital Media studios, including world-class editing and creative spaces for film, radio and digital projects. This completely refurbished wing will be named as the Carter Studios and is due for completion in early 2021. The Carter Studios sit adjacent to the Inquiry and Innovation Hub and with a shared connectivity over two levels, will be another centralised facility to further promote student collaboration across the STEAM subjects.
Soon to commence, the expansion of the School’s renowned auditorium, the Michael Murray Centre for Performing Arts will add a three-storey cultural hub with extended Drama and Music facilities, Learning Resource Centre, a café that outwardly faces the playing fields, and a 250-seat dining space for both Boarding and Day students. The final stages of this section of the Campus Masterplan will include a contemporary home for Year 12 and a wide open social space, already respectfully referred to as Westminster Square, that sits at the centre of the School.
The final stages of the approved Campus Masterplan are currently underway, with construction being undertaken by leading Adelaide builder, SARAH Constructions. All developments earmarked within this section of the Campus Masterplan are set to be completed by early 2022.
