Thanks to our Golden Keys group of sporting benefactors, our gym has been developed into a cutting edge, state-of-the-art training centre, featuring the Fast Twitch Training System (TEKS Isokinetic Machinery). This is a true showpiece for Westminster, being the first independent School to have this technology.
Fast Twitch is one of Australia’s most innovative training systems. It incorporates high-speed isokinetic based training that suits both high performance student athletes, as well as students and adults seeking general fitness training. It has specialised equipment that gets results faster than traditional weight training systems. Operated by adjustable hydraulics, Fast Twitch is safe and its dual action mechanics develop opposing muscle groups evenly for injury prevention and balanced athletic development. Suited to both individual training, as well as team and group training, Fast Twitch machinery has the ability to cater for up to 25 – 30 people simultaneously in our available gym space.
The equipment ties in with our curriculum. The science, functionality and ability to electronically capture, collate and analyse data, integrate seamlessly with Westminster’s STEAM programs across all year levels. This also provides our students with opportunities for engaging study in Physical Education (to SACE Year 12 Level), Workplace Practices Investigation Projects, Research Project, Science and Technology.
We are fortunate to have Gerard Dutton based in the Centre as our Strength and Conditioning Personal Trainer. He has spent the last five years working with a range of different athletes and training principles. Gerard is an expert on the Fast Twitch Equipment and integrating training technologies and high performance programs with individuals and organisations.
I have a passion to provide our Westminster student-athletes with the right knowledge, training and motivation to prepare them for a potential future in elite sport.
