Early Learning to Year 12

Old Scholar News - Edition 7 - 2021

Reunions

Next week we commence our Reunion program with our Classes of 1995 and 1996 25 Year Reunions. Invitations will be out next week for the 40 Year reunion coming up on Friday 18 June, which will also be a duel event for the Classes of 1980 and 1981.

Please save the date for our Annual Dinner, Friday 6 August (cancelled last year), at the Marion Hotel. This will be a special celebration of the School’s 60th Anniversary so please get a few mates together from your year and see if we can’t max out the rooms!

Also, if you are attending any reunions and need accommodation, the Marion Hotel now has updated and expanded rooms and suites that, from all accounts, are very comfortable. To get the School community rate, please quote WESTMINSTER when booking.

Sporting Clubs

Football, soccer and netball are all underway for the winter season. Don’t forget we have a team of cricketers looking to register a team for next season. Contact WOSAEO Peter Trenorden (’77) first up for any info about playing for Old Scholar teams.

David and Madison King

Congratulations

David King (’10) and Madison Hughes were married at The Brae in Dawesley (Adelaide Hills), Saturday 8 May 2021. Stephen King (’15), best man, and David are the sons of Julie King and Frank King (some might recall Julie’s sterling efforts in WARTS productions). Madison is the daughter of Dena Hughes and John Hughes (’77) (photo: Laurence Gibb Photographer).

Seeking an Engineer

An opportunity has arisen with one of our current Westminster families to engage a soon-to-qualify or recently qualified engineering student (best suiting a student/graduate in civil, environmental, mechanical or chemical). The business is Yellowscope and specialises in engineering and management consultancy. Having engaged another Old Scholar for another position (and being very happy with this appointment), the owners are wanting to explore interest in our community first. This position is available now so needs to be filled with some urgency. If you are interested or know someone who would suit this enquiry, please contact Ben Furness as soon as possible to express your interest and find out more, E: ben.furness@yellowscope.com.au or M: 0439 571 674.

Vale Mark Hull (’79)

We were saddened to learn that Mark Hull passed away suddenly on Tuesday 23 March 2021. Our thoughts are with his partner Sandy and children Jesse, Rikki-Lee, Kirk and families.
