A Uniting Church coeducational independent day and boarding school on Kaurna Country, Adelaide, South Australia
Early Learning to Year 12
Thank you to all 63 players who attended Golf Day last Friday (17 September) at Glenelg Golf Club. It was a fantastic event, made even more so by the weather, which held off just long enough for everyone to complete 18 holes and a post-round drink without getting wet!
It was Kent Williams’ (’05) team, pictured with (l-r) Todd Williams (’13), James Fisher (’05) and Nick Rusling (’07), who took out top honours with an Ambrose four-player score of 55.4.
Peter Spooner (’77) was another notable winner, taking out both the Nearest the Pin awards, while Jack Horton (’87) and Christine Oxer won the Longest Drive for Men and Ladies respectively.
A huge thank you to Vili’s, Weekend Surf Company and Drummond Golf for providing our prizes and again for Vili’s by ensuring there was nourishment to be enjoyed on the day (in between drinks).
We plan to make a return to Glenelg Golf Club next year and look forward to having you ‘save the date’ once confirmed.
Last Friday evening (17 September), WOSFC held its end of season dinner, The Greenlow, at the Glenelg Surf Life Saving Club. It was a sell-out event with everyone in fine form to enjoy the evening and recognise the players who took out major awards.
Amongst the winners were Tom Reardon (’20), receiving the Luke Boylan Award for an Old Scholar who has provided Outstanding Service to the Club; Oscar Williams (’20) for the Bs’ Most Improved Player Award; Aaron Fielke, who again won the As’ Rod Simpson Medal for the Best and Fairest; and the inaugural Golden Dragon Awards for Outstanding Club and Team Service: As’ Brock McFarlane, Bs’ Craig Hall and Cs’ Michael Flaharty, pictured with Neil Williams (’66), WOSFC all-round legend and founder of the Golden Dragons.
All things being equal, we have rescheduled WOSA’s Annual Dinner (and AGM) to Friday 5 November at the Marion Hotel. Current restrictions will allow us to proceed full steam ahead with this event, which we want to celebrate the School’s 60th Anniversary. Please see the link below to book your place – we will be sorting out tables as numbers come through.
Congratulations to our first Old Scholars’ Junior team who won their Grand Final – a brilliant effort by all players and officials.
