Optus Proposal for Transmission Station

Many would be aware that Optus is proposing to install a mobile phone base (small cell facility) near 1 Farne Tce, Marion. With public comment on this proposal to be submitted by COB Friday 16 August, the School will be formally objecting to the nominated location on behalf of our community. We know some parents have already indicated their intention to do this as well and been willing to share their own findings via the Westie Parents’ Facebook group (and more). Stormwater Upgrade in Alison Ave

Quite independent of our Inquiry and Innovation Hub construction, we have been advised by the City of Marion that there will be a new stormwater system installed in Alison Ave between Farne Tce and Orkney Ave. Stage 1 commences on Monday 19 August to close the first section between Farne Tce and Rathlin Ave. Gate 1 will remain open but if you access this by travelling north along Alison Ave, a road closure detour will steer you east along Rathlin Ave, north on Avalon Rd and then west along Farne Tce to Gate 1. Further stages will follow in this rolling project but we do not yet have a schedule from the City of Marion. Subsequent sections will also affect the school crossing and School’s main gates. We will share updates through the eNews, our comms app School Star and social media, as guided by the notice we receive from the City of Marion.
