Early Learning to Year 12

Head of Activities - Edition 1 - 2022

We aim to provide the opportunity for all students at Westminster to achieve their best through engaging them academically and in a wide range of co-curricular activities.

To cater for the many and varied needs of each student, the co-curricular program is extensive, and all students are expected and encouraged to take part in the co-curricular program to develop their interests and broaden their experiences. The program offers a wide range of experiences in sports, clubs, outdoor pursuits, the Performing Arts and Round Square. Taking part in the program helps students develop qualities such as confidence, leadership, resilience and social skills. These activities not only provide opportunities for individuals to work as part of a team, but also allow students to experience a challenge and a sense of their own personal worth beyond the classroom.

When all students are back at School next week, we will be resuming our Co-curricular activities program. The only exception to this will be our Choirs and Bands, which will look to resume in Week 4. Please note that Senior Concert Band, Big Band 1, Senior Orchestra and Vocal Jazz include Stage 2 Music students and these groups have been notified by our Director of Music, Michael Degenhart separately regarding their schedule.

We have now completed the online nomination process with all students across the School. This has proved more challenging this year as many of our students are working from home. We are now at the stage of finalising lists to send to the staff responsible for each activity. Students will be notified via email or Seqta notices of where to meet and what time their activity will take place.

Interschool sporting fixtures will start in Week 5 and at this stage, we are still waiting on match schedules. We will release these to families as soon as we are able to. We are pleased to have the next two weeks to prepare teams for the opening round of the season and look forward to another great year of co-curricular activities, hopefully without too much disruption!
