Music Notes

Congratulations to Luke Moriarty (Year 8 Carter) and Jenny Xu (Year 10 Fricker) Joe Huang (Year 9 Fricker) and Freddy Ramly Peck (Year 9 Jeffries) who were accepted into the state music camp to be held during the July school holidays this year.

Well done to the Year 4 to 6 String Ensemble for their performance in Prep School assembly last Monday. There are over 40 students who performed as a group for the first time this year. Their performance of Acrobats was outstanding.

Sing Sing Sing and Winter Solstice Bandstand

We invite you to join us at these two events running during Week 9 and would warmly welcome you to see the work of a large number of students in various ensembles.

The Friends of Music will provide refreshments before the Sing Sing Sing concert (there will not be an interval for this event). The Friends of Music will also provide refreshments before the Bandstand and during the interval.

Details are as follows. There is no charge for either event but please book via trybooking to avoid disappointment.

Music Night 2021

Westminster School in Concert with Kym Purling with Big Band 1, Vocal Jazz 1 and selected soloists

For our 2021 Music Night, we are incredibly excited to welcome back Old Scholar and world-renowned pianist, conductor and composer, Kym Purling ('89) as he performs live with Big Band 1, Vocal Jazz 1 and selected soloists. We will also be treated to the sounds of the Kym Purling Trio with Tim Bowen and John McDermott, and the Kym Purling Quintet with Jack Degenhart ('12), Josh Chenoweth ('15) and Alex Taylor.

Kym was in 12 different music groups during his Matriculation year at Westminster, and prior to Music Night will spend two days running workshops with some of our music students.
