Outstanding achievements in music!

Congratulations to Luke Moriarty (Year 8 Carter) and Jenny Xu (Year 10 Fricker), William Russo (Year 5 Wyvern), Joe Huang (Year 9 Fricker) and Freddy Ramly-Peck (Year 9 Jeffries) who all took part in the state music camp during the July school holidays this year. All the ensembles are auditioned. Students were involved in rehearsals and a concert at the conclusion of the rehearsal process.

AMEB achievements

Congratulations to these students who all achieved High Distinctions for their AMEB exams.

• Joe Huang (Year 9 Fricker) achieved an A+ (high distinction) for his Grade 6 AMEB trumpet exam
• Max Junge (Year 5 Crown) achieved an A+ (high distinction) for his Grade 5 AMEB voice exam
• Anwyl Wong (Year 7 Forder) achieved an A+ (high distinction) for his Grade 1 AMEB flute exam

Kimberley Li

On Saturday 26 June, Kimberley Li (Year 12 Carter) performed at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival as a part of the Class of Cabaret 2021. Congratulations to Kimberley who worked hard with the other students involved to put on a wonderful performance.

Prep Rock Band

We had some fantastic news to end Term 2, with our Prep Rock Band competing in the Battle of the Primary School Rock Bands at Nazareth College. The band won their division.

They performed ‘Bang’ by AJR, arranged by Paul Jankovic. The students in the Prep Rock Band are:

Kym Purling in Concert - Postponed

We are disappointed to postpone this concert but Kym is very keen to come back to his old school and perform. We are in the process of confirming a new date, which we think will be at the end of Term 3. More on this in the next eNews.

The concert will feature Kym Purling (’89), world-renowned jazz pianist, and includes Vocal Jazz 1 and Big Band 1 who will workshop with Kym, along with selected singers, the Kym Purling trio and his larger ensemble with Alex Taylor, Jack Degenhart (’12) and Josh Chenoweth (’15) and John McDermott, who all teach at Westminster.
