Paper Bread Tag Challenge
At Assembly, students learnt that paper bread tags are too small to be recycled individually but they can be recycled when collected together in envelopes.
Students are invited to bring their paper bread tags to their House Meeting each Wednesday as part of a Term 3 House challenge. Every tag counts as Houses compete to collect the most by the end of the term, with a prize for the winning House.
We encourage families to save their paper bread tags at home and send them along with students each Wednesday.
For further information, please email Miss O’Connell at loconnell@westminster.sa.edu.au.
Tread Lightly Shoe Recycling
Our Tread Lightly shoe collection will also continue throughout Term 3, giving unwanted footwear another life and helping to reduce waste.
Collection tubs are located in the Year 5 corridor. We welcome sports shoes, boots, thongs and leather school shoes for recycling.
Please do not send slides, Crocs, slippers, Ugg boots or ballet flats, as these items cannot be accepted through the program.
Thank you to our School community for supporting these initiatives. By making small changes and working together, we can make a meaningful difference.
For further information, please email Miss O’Connell at loconnell@westminster.sa.edu.au.
Book Week Parade
We're delighted to invite families to our annual Book Week Parade, celebrating this year's theme, Symphony of Stories.
Following the success of last year's event, the parade will once again be held in the same format.
Event Details:
Date: Friday 28 August (Week 6)
Time: 9.00 am – 10.20 am
Location: Michael Murray Centre for Performing Arts (seating will be available on the stage and at the back of the Michael Murray Centre. Standing areas will also be available.)
Join us as students bring their favourite stories to life by dressing as book characters that inspire imagination and adventure. It's a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the joy of reading together as a School community.
A coffee van will be available from 8.00 am for families wishing to purchase a coffee before the parade begins.
Costumes can be as simple or as elaborate as families choose. A homemade costume, a favourite hat or prop or dressing in the colours of a book character can be just as effective as a store-bought costume. The most important thing is celebrating a love of reading and books.
We look forward to celebrating Book Week with you and seeing the creativity our students bring to this special event.
Class and Co-curricular Photos
A reminder that Preparatory School class photos will take place on Monday 24 August. All Preparatory School students are required to wear their full winter formal uniform, including those who would usually have a Physical Education lesson that day. Physical Education activities will be adapted to suit formal uniform.
Co-curricular and sibling photos will be held on Tuesday 25 August and Wednesday 26 August. Students participating in these photos are also asked to wear their full winter formal uniform. Please ensure blazers are worn without jumpers underneath.
Thank you for your support in helping students look their best for photo day.
