West Direction

West Direction is an audition vocal group, mostly made up of middle school students. It is considered one of Westminster’s premier vocal groups, with members being involved in a number of core ensembles. Students are required to undertake an audition process for selection into this group.  

West Direction provides students with the opportunity to participate and experience singing within an SATB small choir setting, exploring various styles of music appropriate for this particular ensemble. This group also aims to develop students’ musicianship and understanding of the part they play within a smaller group setting. 

Rehearsing every Wednesday afternoon from 3.45 - 5.15pm, students will be required to bring their music and a pencil to every rehearsal.  Students are expected to attend every rehearsal and if there is an unforeseen absence, they are required to contact the ensemble director prior to the rehearsal starting.  Outside rehearsal is expected of every member. Students will be required to arrive at 3.40 pm, ready for a 3.45 pm start.  Rehearsals will start in week 3 or 3 of Term 1, with this being communicated to those who have been offered a place in this ensemble.

This group performs often, and performances include Sing Sing Sing, Music Night and The Carols, to name a few.
