Girls' Netball

Westminster has a proud and sustained history of excellence in Netball. The program has set a benchmark for School sport in South Australia for many years, with strong team success and many players progressing to State League, National League and Australian representation. A key foundation of this success is our focus on player development supported by a coaching group that includes current and former State and National level coaches.

Competing in the IGSSA competition, the School fields more than 24 Senior School teams each season, offering opportunities for students at every stage of their Netball journey. This includes those experiencing the game for the first time through to our elite Premier League squad. Westminster teams also enter the School Sport SA Statewide Knockout competitions across available year levels where the School has enjoyed considerable success over many years.

Selection for all A and B squads at each year level is highly competitive. Two trial sessions are held on Sundays early in Term 1 and students are expected to attend both if they wish to be considered for an A or B squad. With strong interest across the program all teams benefit from high quality coaching and competitive play regardless of squad selection.

Many students also participate in community club Netball. To support balance, most School teams train once a week, with the exception of the Premier League squad. Motivated students can also access additional extension and development opportunities through the School High Performance Netball pathway. Please note that Year 7 School fixtures may occasionally clash with Saturday morning club competitions depending on team placement.
