Boys' Soccer

Boys Soccer at Westminster is a popular and well supported Winter sport with strong participation across Years 7 to 9 and a growing Senior program. The Senior Boys First XI plan to move into the SAAS First XI Soccer League, played on Wednesday afternoons, providing a meaningful step forward in the development of our pathway.

The program is guided by a committed coaching group that focuses on strong fundamentals, consistent training habits and representing the School with pride. All students are expected to uphold the standards outlined in the Co-curricular Code of Conduct.

Westminster competes in the SAAS Soccer competition. We are working towards building a consistent and sustainable program across all year levels that aims to:

1. Increase the number of students playing Soccer for Westminster
2. Ensure students enjoy a rewarding and memorable experience with their peers
3. Provide opportunities for players to develop towards high performance
4. Support students who are passionate about club Soccer but may not currently play at School

In Years 7 to 9 the emphasis is on learning the game, building technical skill, tactical understanding and enjoyment. Where possible, teams are organised within year levels with a commitment to strong participation. As students’ progress into Senior Soccer, the competitive environment increases while maintaining a strong focus on teamwork and playing with pride.

Leading development coach Neil Young has introduced a specialist Development Program in Terms 1 and 4, which has added significant value to the growth and skill development of the program.

Boys Soccer at Westminster provides an environment where students develop as players and as people, build lasting friendships and contribute to a growing School tradition. Many students continue their soccer journey beyond School through the Westminster Dragons Old Scholars Soccer Club, reflecting the strong community connection that sits at the heart of the program.
