Boys Football at Westminster is one of our most popular and well supported sports with strong participation across all year levels. The School takes great pride in the performance of our teams and the pathway that continues beyond School through the Westminster Dragons Old Scholars Football Club.

The program is guided by a highly committed coaching group that focuses on strong fundamentals, team connection, consistent training habits and representing the School with pride. All students are expected to uphold the standards outlined in the Co-curricular Code of Conduct.

Westminster competes in the SAAS Football competition. The division in which all our teams play is determined by the performance of the First XVIII. When the First XVIII performs strongly, the following season all teams from Year 7 through to First XVIII generally compete in Division 1. This has historically presented challenges and has seen the School move between Division 1 and Division 2 over time. Our long term aim is to establish Westminster as a consistent Division 1 football program in all year levels. To achieve this, we are focused on player development, strong coaching and high standards of preparation.

In Years 7 to 10 the emphasis is on learning the game, building skills and enjoyment. Teams play within age groups with a commitment to strong participation and fair game time. As students’ progress into senior football the competitive environment increases while maintaining a strong focus on playing the game in the correct spirit.
