Boys' Basketball
Boys Basketball at Westminster offers a supportive and inclusive pathway for students at every stage of their basketball journey. The program welcomes those learning the game for the first time as well as students aspiring to play at a higher competitive level. Training and games are structured to encourage confidence, teamwork and enjoyment while upholding the expectations outlined in the Co-curricular Code of Conduct.
A key strength of the program is the breadth of teams available. We field participation teams for students who are new to the sport or who simply enjoy playing with friends in a relaxed and positive environment through to our A and B squads which are coached to develop technical skill, tactical understanding and strong team identity.
We have Senior teams which typically include students from Years 10 to 12 and Middle Years teams made up of students in Years 7 to 9. All teams play on Saturday mornings.
The Co-curricular Basketball Program is complemented by the opportunity for students in Years 8 and 9 to select Basketball Academy as a curriculum elective. This provides additional skill development along with tactical and game awareness within the School timetable.
For students seeking a higher level of competition there is an opportunity to represent Westminster at the Australian Basketball Schools Cup on the Gold Coast towards the end of Term 4. This experience provides motivated players with the chance to compete against strong opposition and further develop their game
