Westminster Weekly - Edition 64
Making Smartphone Decisions Together with Wait Mate
Deciding when a child is ready for their first smartphone is one of the biggest parenting conversations of our time. At Westminster, we understand there is no one-size-fits-all answer, which is why we are committed to providing families with access to expert advice, practical strategies and opportunities to connect with others navigating the same decisions.
To support this important conversation, Westminster is hosting a free Wait Mate parent session on Thursday 27 August in the Michael Murray Centre.
Doors open at 6.00 pm, with drinks and light refreshments available before the session begins at 6.30 pm. The presentation concludes at 7.30 pm.
Wait Mate is a South Australian Government-funded initiative that encourages families to delay giving their child a smartphone for as long as possible while supporting parents and carers to make that decision together.
The session provides practical, balanced information to help families make informed decisions and is equally valuable for families whose child already has a smartphone.
All Reception to Year 8 parents and carers, as well as grandparents, are warmly invited to attend. Families from neighbouring schools are also welcome.
To book, visit sa.waitmate.org.au search Westminster School, and select the session on Thursday 27 August, from 6.30 pm to 7.30 pm. Places are limited, so early bookings are encouraged.
If you are unable to attend our session, Westminster families are welcome to attend any other Wait Mate session in the local area that week.
