A Semester of School Pride
One of the great privileges of my role as Director of Activities is the opportunity to see our students display their talents in so many different ways. Whether through Sport, Performing Arts, Clubs such as the Royal Show Team or the many co-curricular tours and experiences on offer, our students continually impress with their enthusiasm and willingness to embrace opportunities beyond the classroom.
These experiences often create a strong sense of School pride. There is something special about seeing students dedicate themselves to an activity, train, practise or rehearse with purpose and then perform at their best. The success that follows is often a reflection of the hard work and perseverance shown by both students and staff.
As we look back on Semester 1, it provided many memorable moments. In Sport, our Girls First XI Cricket team claimed the State Championship and our Sailing team secured the State Championship in a thrilling finale at Goolwa before competing in the National Championship during the recent holidays. Both achievements were outstanding examples of determination and teamwork.
As remarkable as these successes were, they were matched by the incredible Performing Arts production, Sing Sing Sing. Westminster has long been recognised for the quality of its Performing Arts program, but this performance created a truly special sense of School pride. The finale, From Now On from The Greatest Showman, was a powerful celebration of community and belonging. Featuring students from Year 2 through to Year 12, it captured the spirit of Westminster and left those in attendance with a lasting sense of pride in our School.
It also served as a reminder of one of Westminster’s greatest strengths: providing opportunities for every student to discover their passions and develop their talents.
