Extreme Weather Policy

The safety and wellbeing of students is always our highest priority at Westminster School. Clear procedures guide decisions for co-curricular sport during periods of extreme weather.

Matches

Weekend fixtures will be cancelled or stopped if real-time temperatures at the venue reach 38°C for Senior School or 35°C for Preparatory School.

Weekday fixtures will be cancelled if at 8.00 am the predicted maximum temperature is 38°C for Senior School boys, 36°C for Senior School girls or 35°C for Preparatory School.

All decisions are guided by Bureau of Meteorology data at the venue and thresholds set by SAAS and IGSSA.

Training

Senior School training will continue with sessions adjusted to indoor or shaded spaces where possible. Preparatory School training decisions are made by 8.00 am on the day if temperatures are predicted to reach 35°C.

Blazers

As a reminder, as per the school uniform policy, when the temperature is over 30°C, blazers are not required for students.
