Westminster Wins Intercol 2026

24 August 2026

Westminster has claimed the 2026 Intercol Trophy following an outstanding week of competition against long-time rivals Pembroke.

Across 51 fixtures, Westminster recorded 34 wins to Pembroke’s 17, with strong performances across the School ultimately delivering the overall Intercol victory.

There were dominant results across several sports, with Westminster winning eight of 10 football fixtures, 16 of 21 netball fixtures and five of seven basketball fixtures.

One of the most important contributions came from our Preparatory School soccer teams. Across four fixtures, Westminster recorded three wins, securing the Soccer section of Intercol and two crucial points towards the overall trophy.

Those points would ultimately prove decisive.

Due to the unique Intercol scoring system, the result came down to the final fixture of the week, the Boys First XVIII Football. With the overall trophy on the line, Westminster secured the result needed to be crowned Intercol Champions for 2026.

While the final game decided the trophy, the victory was built across the entire week. Every team and every result contributed, from our youngest competitors in the Preparatory School through to our senior teams.

Individual excellence was also recognised through our Intercol Medallists:

  • Girls First XVI Football: Georgia Dennis
  • Boys First XVIII Football: Hugh Hazleton
  • Girls First XI Soccer: Aijay Willoughby
  • Boys Senior A Basketball: Brooklyn Arnold
  • Girls Senior Badminton: Isabella Si
  • Senior Chess: Jonny Tsambazis
  • Netball: Elouise Nordhausen

And while our Dragon went down narrowly in a closely contested Mascot Race, it was another spirited contest and a memorable part of the week.

To win 34 of 51 fixtures is an outstanding reflection of the strength and depth of sport at Westminster and the commitment of our students, coaches, staff and supporters.
