Westminster Prep Rock Band Westbound Sound Secures Another Major Win
Westminster’s Prep Rock Band, Westbound Sound, has achieved another outstanding result, taking first place in the Junior Rock Band Division at the Balaklava Eisteddfod. This latest success follows their first-place result at the Battle of the Bands at Nazareth College in late Term 2.
In both performances, the group impressed both judges and audiences with their polished performance of Danger Zone and Never Tear Us Apart.
Westminster Music Specialist Teacher, Karen Wandel, said the group achieve an outstanding level of performance for such young musicians.
“The students have such a strong sense of presentation and polish, and they really know how to engage with an audience. It’s not just about playing the music well, it’s the way they carry themselves on stage and share their energy that makes them stand out,” she said.
The band members - Frank Li, Justice Thompson, Henry Tie, Ferdi Linde, Max Ma and Will Scheel - have shown remarkable teamwork and commitment throughout the year.
Their success reflects not only their technical ability and passion for music, but also the careful mentoring and rehearsal planning that supports their growth.
