Directed by Mr Paul Jankovic, Westminster's Preparatory School Rock Band competed in the Junior Rock Band Division on Friday 31 July, earning 1st place before being named the overall Rock Band Champion across the entire competition.

The achievement is particularly impressive given the strength of the field, with around 20 bands competing throughout the day, the majority from senior schools.

The outstanding result follows the band's recent success at the Battle of the Bands competition at Nazareth College, where they claimed 2nd place in Division 6 with their energetic performance of Sk8er Boi.

Westminster Head of Music, Cassie Pope said the achievement was a reflection of the students' commitment and the culture of Westminster's music program.

"Success in music is about much more than just winning trophies. It's about building confidence, teamwork and a love of performing, so to see Westbound Sound recognised as Rock Band Champions is a wonderful reward for the students' hard work and dedication,” she said.

“We are incredibly proud of the way our student’s represented Westminster and grateful to Mr Paul Jankovic, whose passion and expertise continue to drive our young musicians."
