Academic
Tina Tian, Year 9
Congratulations to Tina, who recently attended the International Cybersecurity Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (ICOA) in Sydney, and was then selected in a team of eight to participate in the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI). Well done Tina on such an impressive achievement!
Performing Arts
Jacob Wung, Year 4
We are thrilled to celebrate Jacob, who has been invited to perform the piano with an orchestra at Royal Albert Hall, London next year. This is an amazing opportunity and we wish Jacob all the best.
Isabella Tan, Year 5
Congratulations to Isabella, who received Honours, (A, 89%) in her recent AMEB Grade 2 Theory exam.
Jayden Tsai, Year 6
Well done to Jayden who completed his Grade 5 Piano exam, achieving a High Distinction (A+). This is a wonderful accomplishment for a student of this age.
Elizabeth (Xinxin) Gibson, Year 7
Congratulations to Elizabeth who achieved Honours (A, 89%) in her Grade 2 AMEB Theory exam. We wish Xinxin all the best in her future exams.
Samuel Beams, Year 8
Congratulations to Sam, who was invited to attend the AMEB SA & NT Awards Ceremony for 2025 candidates, held on April 11 at Bonython Hall, Adelaide University. At the ceremony, Sam was presented with the Rockschool Grade 7 Prize - an outstanding achievement - by Dr Emily Dollman, Head of Music Education and Pedagogy, Adelaide University.
Mia Chen, Year 10
We are delighted to celebrate Mia, who has been listed as a finalist for World Ballet Crown Australia- Ruby Division. Held over 5 days in Sydney, NSW (18–22 August 2026) the Australian National Final will involve three days of Masterclasses followed by a Semi Final and Grand Final. We wish Mia all the best for this wonderful learning and performance opportunity. Mia is receiving dance training at Barbara Jayne Dance Center.
Sport
Maria Kowalczyk, Year 5
Congratulations to Maria for an exceptional term in sport. During Athletics Carnival, Maria set new school records in the 800m, 1500m and Long Jump. She also came first in the school cross-country later in the term.
In addition, we are delighted to celebrate Maria's first place in the 1500m with a time for 5:18 minutes at the Little Athletics State Individuals. She also competed at the SAPSASA Oakbank State Cross Country Championships, where she came first in the state with a time of 12:17. As a result, Maria will be representing at Nationals for Cross Country in Sydney later in the year.
Jesse Stouppos, Year 5
Well done to Jesse who achieved an excellent result in mountain biking this term. Jesse competed in the SAPSASA State Mountain Biking competition and placed 69th out of 370 competitors. Well done Jesse!
Percy Walker, Year 6
Congratulations to Percy, who was a member of the South-West district swimming 4x 50m freestyle relay team that took second place at the SAPSASA Swimming State Championships.
Year 5/6 Girls State Netball Knockout
On Tuesday 16 June, the Year 5/6 Girls Netball team competed in the next round of the Statewide Schools Netball Competition. The day began with strong opposition; however, Westminster showcased their skill and determination, securing a 17–13 win against Nazareth in their opening match.
Continuing their strong performance, the team worked cohesively to achieve another impressive victory, winning 17–11 against Walkerville a competitive side. With one more game needed to progress, the girls demonstrated excellent teamwork and spirit, finishing with a convincing 14–6 win against Marryatville.
As a result, the team has advanced to the final four in the state, with the next round to be played on Monday 14 September.

Preparatory South-West SAPSASA Netball Representatives
Westminster is proud to celebrate Isobel, Ava and Ivy, who will represent the South-West SAPSASA District Netball teams later this week. Selection in a South-West team is a significant achievement given the strength of netball across the district. Isobel who will represent South-West for a second consecutive year and continues to demonstrate outstanding commitment to her development. Ava, new to Westminster this year, is a versatile athlete with excellent game sense and the ability to impact any position on the court. Ivy, also new to Westminster in 2026, has impressed with her presence, leadership potential and care for others.

Adin Jasic, Year 9
Congratulations to Adin who has achieved the incredible feat of recently being selected in two South Australian State teams across two sports.
Adin has been selected in the Under 14 South Australian Boys Football Team to compete at the School Sport Australia Championships in Melbourne this July. As a dual sport student, Adin has also been selected in the South Australian Under 16 State Metro Basketball Team to compete at the National Championships in Bendigo in early July.
Caleb Dyer, Year 9
Congratulations to Caleb Dyer who was selected in the South Australian Under 16 State Metro Basketball team and will compete at the National Championships in Bendigo in early July.
Sirra Montgomerie, Year 9
Well done to Sirra who has also earned selection in the Under 14 South Australian Girls Football Team. Sirra will represent South Australia at the championships in Melbourne this July.
Isla Church, Year 10
Congratulations to Isla who won the award for Junior Team Spirit for Rescue and Resuscitation for Surf Life Saving at the Brighton Jetty Classic.
Lara Scutchings, Year 11
Congratulations to Lara, who was a member of the State Lacrosse Under 18A team that travelled to Perth for the Nationals in April this year. They won the Championship and Lara was also named in the tournament All Stars Team.
Max Scutchings, Year 12
We wish Max well as he leaves for the Junior World Gliding Championship in Germany in the break to represent Australia. Congratulations Max.
Dayna Harrison, Year 12
We are thrilled to celebrated Dayna, who was the only South Australian tennis player to make the All Australian Team at the Pizzey Cup in May. Dayna placed 5th overall as the Captain of the South Australian team and made the quarter finals for the Australian Cup.
Old Scholars
Reiley Kohler ('23)
Congratulations to Australian Ballet School Level 8 student Reiley Kohler ('23) who was seconded to The Australian Ballet to perform in Romeo and Juliet at the Sydney Opera House from 24 April to 13 May. This opportunity provided significant professional development for Reiley and we wish him all the best for his graduate year at the Australian Ballet School. Level 8 students will be performing in Adelaide as part of The Australian Ballet's National Tour of The Nutcracker Act II and other works from 5 - 8 August at the Adelaide Festival Centre Dunstan Playhouse / Kaurna Yarta. Taylor Goad (’23)
Congratulations to Old Scholar, Taylor Goad ('23) who made his AFL debut in Perth on Saturday 13 June with North Melbourne Football Club.
Lukas Cooke (’21)
Congratulations to Old Scholar, Lukas Cooke ('21) on his recent selection in the AFL Mid-Season Draft.
Lukas was selected by Melbourne Football Club with pick 11 and will now begin his AFL journey.
A talented multi-sport student during his time at Westminster, Lukas is a terrific example of persistence and resilience, working his way through the SANFL ranks before earning his opportunity at AFL level.

Angela Phillips, Director of Teaching
We are delighted to celebrate Ms Phillips, our Director of Teaching, on being recognised with an ACEL South Australia Educational Leadership Award.
This prestigious award acknowledges Ms Phillips' outstanding contribution to educational leadership and her unwavering commitment to excellence in teaching and learning. Through her leadership, Angela continues to inspire educators, champion innovation and create meaningful opportunities for students and staff to thrive.

Cassie Pope, Westminster Head of Music
Congratulations to Ms Pope who was presented with an award for 10+ years of outstanding contribution to the Australian Band and Orchestra Directors' Association of South Australia at the Educator's SA Volunteers' Service Ceremony.
Emily Feetham, Westminster Preparatory Library Manager
Well done to Ms Feetham, who recently received the School Library Association of South Australia (SLASA) School Library Advocate Award for 2026. This well-deserved recognition reflects Ms Feetham's dedication to fostering a love of reading, learning and curiosity within our School community and our students.
Ruby Harris, Preparatory School Teacher
Congratulations to Ms Harris, who recently gained her Highly Accomplished Teacher status.
Westminster is also proud to share, Ms Harris has been recognised by The Educator and nominated as an Excellence Awardee - Education Rising Star of the Year Award for the Australian Education Awards 2026.
Ursula Gruszewski, Westminster Piano Tutor
Congratulations to Ms Gruszewski, who has been invited to adjudicate an international music competition for Piano, Strings, and Young Composers (Solo, Ensemble, and Piano with Orchestra), in collaboration with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. The event will be held in Vienna, Austria, at the Musikverein – Golden Hall in April 2027.
