Girls' Netball

Westminster students featured strongly at the National Netball Championships, with South Australia going through the tournament undefeated to claim back-to-back titles.

Six students were selected to represent the state – Jazz, Anna, Elouise, Darcy, Maiya and Chloe. Jazz captained the side, with Elouise named vice-captain. Jazz was also recognised with two significant honours – named Player of the Tournament and Best on Ground in the grand final.

Jazz, Elouise, Anna and Darcy have been selected for the National Squad – an outstanding result with just 36 players chosen nationally, including only seven from South Australia.

Senior Girls Cross Country

At the School Sport SA Cross Country State Championships held at Oakbank, our students demonstrated exceptional endurance and school pride.

The Open Girls team delivered a dominant performance, sweeping the podium. Tessa Ebert, won the event in a remarkable time of 14:24 over 4km. She was followed by Adelle Parkinson-Need in second (15:55) and Rosie Vowles in third (16:19), securing the overall team title for Westminster.

In the 13 Year Boys category, Bailey Wood, Cruz Murphy, Lucas Thomas, Will Thompson and Anthony Mark worked as a cohesive unit, all finishing within a minute of each other to place third in the team competition.

Special mention to Alice Dandie for placing third in the 16 Year Girls and to Lily Ritson for her top ten finish in the 14 Year Girls event.

Westminster’s Westie 1 Sails to State Glory

Westminster’s Westie 1 Sailing Team has claimed a sensational victory, securing the State Title at the 2025 South Australian Secondary Schools Championships.

Over three gruelling days of competition in 30-plus degree heat, 12 schools went head-to-head across 28 minor round races and 7 finals. Westminster’s Westie 1 team demonstrated outstanding skill and teamwork to finish first, marking a standout moment in what has already been a stellar season.

The victory is especially meaningful for Year 12 students Grady Sayers and Charlie Edwards, who now prepare to represent Westminster one final time at the National Championships in the July School holidays.

Westminster’s future on the water also looks bright, with Westie 2 making an impressive surge into the finals to place fourth overall.

Both teams were expertly coached by Old Scholar Harry Higgins ('22), whose passion and leadership continue to inspire Westminster’s young sailors, with longstanding supporters Mike Martens and Marriane Collier also playing pivotal roles in guiding the teams throughout the season.
