Academic
Tina Tian, Year 9
In February Tina Tian headed to Ljubljana in Slovenia to represent Australia at the International AI Olympiad. The International Artificial Intelligence Olympiad (IAIO) is an international competition for secondary school students under the age of 20, focusing on both theoretical knowledge and practical applications of artificial intelligence. Organized by the International Research Centre on Artificial Intelligence (IRCAI), nearly 120 students from different countries and regions participated in the event. The competition consisted of two parts: a Theory Round, covering fundamental concepts such as machine learning, probability, and neural networks; and a Practical Round, in which students were required to solve applied problems using programming and machine learning techniques, including data analysis, predictive modelling, image recognition, and model optimisation.
The IAIO aims to promote the development of AI education and interdisciplinary skills in mathematics, computer science, and artificial intelligence among secondary school students.
Well done Tina on this impressive achievement!
