Division 1 Glory Marks New Era for Westminster Basketball

Westminster’s vision to build one of Australia’s leading school basketball programs has reached another significant milestone, with the Boys Mid A team crowned Division 1 Premiers following a thrilling 69–61 Grand Final victory over Rostrevor.

The Premiership marks another step forward for a program undergoing significant growth under new Head of Basketball and Old Scholar Jarryd Hoppo ('18), whose vision is to create a high-performance culture where students of all abilities can thrive while developing teams capable of competing with the best in the country.

After establishing an early lead, Westminster faced a determined Rostrevor comeback before producing an outstanding final quarter. Composure under pressure, disciplined defence and decisive plays secured a memorable Division 1 Premiership.

Year 9 student Adin Jasic was named Grand Final MVP following an exceptional all-round performance, demonstrating the calibre of young talent emerging through the Westminster program.

Adin is also one of several Westminster students selected to represent South Australia Metro at the recent Australian National Championships this year, highlighting the strength of the School’s developing basketball pathway.

Westminster’s Head of Activities, Stephen Schwerdt, said the Boys Mid A Division 1 Premiership capped an outstanding season and reflected the culture being built across Westminster Basketball.
