Cut 4 Cancer: A Community Comes Together for a Great Cause
A remarkable display of courage, generosity and community spirit was on show at Westminster for this year’s Cut 4 Cancer fundraiser, with an outstanding $47,969 raised for eight cancer charities.
Organised and facilitated by our Student Leadership Group, Cut 4 Cancer brought students, staff, families and supporters together for a memorable day united by a shared purpose.
An incredible 161 students and staff volunteered to have their hair cut or shaved, including 26 courageous Year 6 students. They were supported by 15 volunteer hairdressers who generously donated their time and skills to make the event possible.
Acting Head of Year 12 Trevor Orman said the success of Cut 4 Cancer reflected the compassion and leadership shown across the Westminster community.
Cut 4 Cancer is a wonderful example of our students turning an idea into meaningful action. To see so many students and staff willing to take part and our wider community rally behind them was incredibly special. Raising almost $48,000 is an outstanding achievement but just as importantly, the day showed our students the difference they can make when they work together for something bigger than themselves.
Funds raised through Cut 4 Cancer will support eight important charities: Cancer Council, Lion Hearts Learning, National Breast Cancer Foundation, Leukaemia Foundation, Cure Brain Cancer Foundation, Bowel Cancer Australia, Prostate Cancer Foundation and Ovarian Cancer Research.
While the fundraising total is an achievement to celebrate, the impact of Cut 4 Cancer extended well beyond the dollars raised.
Our sincere thanks go to the Student Leadership Group, participating students and staff, volunteer hairdressers, families, donors and everyone who supported the event.
Cut 4 Cancer was a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when the Westminster community comes together to make a difference.
