Environmental Action Group
Led by Senior School Teacher, Rachel Abercrombie
At weekly EAG meetings the members research, create, and plan environmental activities, actions, events and projects. Students of the group work with members of the school and community to complete sustainability projects that last. Types of in-school projects include: green contests; becoming a solar school; community trail or habitat restoration; fund-raising initiatives; education on food alternatives and low impact foods; letter writing campaigns to local and federal members of parliament regarding environmental issues, climate change, animal rights, human rights, etc.; educate the school and wider community through assemblies, events and communications; encouraging the school as a whole to set specific targets for paper and waste reduction, water and energy consumption etc; and more. EAG meet every week on Tuesday at lunchtime.
