Book Fair Reminder
Our Book Fair has been a wonderful success so far, and we would like to sincerely thank all of the parents and families who have visited and purchased books.
There is still time to visit! The Book Fair will continue next week on Monday and Tuesday from 8:00 am – 9:00 am. We encourage families to come along and browse the wonderful range of books available. We also have Dogman visiting us on Tuesday morning!
Thank you for continuing to encourage a love of reading at home. In the words of Dr Seuss: "The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go."
Book Fair FAQ:
- Can we pay in cash? No - we will only be accepting card payments. How does the pre-payment work? You can upload a certain dollar amount online, then, bring in the receipt. You can buy any items you like up to the value of the amount paid.
- What happens if books sell out? We have limited stock available to purchase, however, any items that sell out will be re-ordered and delivered to the school. No one will miss out; there will just be a slight delay! All items (excluding stationary, journals, posters and discounted items) will be displayed on the shelf until the end of the book fair.
- Can I bring my own bank card? No, you must have an adult with you if you are paying with a bank card. Pre-paid items can be collected without an adult present, however we would prefer you to have a parent with you.
Packing Day: A Tradition of Giving
As part of Westminster’s ongoing commitment to community service and social justice, our Preparatory School will once again participate in Packing Day during Reconciliation Week (Week 6).
This long-standing initiative, supported by the Uniting Church, provides an opportunity for our School community to make a practical and heartfelt contribution to remote communities across Australia.
Packing Day is a cherished tradition in which families are invited to donate good-quality, second-hand clothing. These generous donations are sorted and packed into cartons and sent to support individuals and families in need, often in rural and isolated areas where access to such essentials is limited.
Students from Reception to Year 6 are encouraged to bring in clean, wearable clothing and place them in the clearly marked cartons that will be available in the Chapel foyer throughout Week 6.
This simple act of kindness reinforces Westminster’s values of compassion, inclusion and service, offering children a tangible way to contribute to the wider community.
We thank our families for supporting this important initiative.
Help Us Improve Our Catering Service
We are always looking for ways to improve the experience we provide for our students and families. Our catering company, Gather by Cater Care, is seeking feedback from parents to help guide future menu offerings and service improvements.
We encourage all families to take a few minutes to complete the online survey. Your feedback is greatly valued and will assist Gather by Cater Care in continuing to provide quality food and service for our school community.
Please complete the survey via the link here.
Wait Mate Continues to Grow
We are delighted to share the continued success of WaitMate within our Westminster community.
Thanks to the commitment and shared values of our families, four year levels have now been unlocked through the platform. This reflects the growing number of parents choosing to wait before introducing smartphones to their children and highlights the strength of our community working together to support children’s wellbeing.
One of the most powerful outcomes of WaitMate has been the sense of connection it has created among families. Parents are supporting one another, having open conversations and making intentional decisions that benefit the broader community.
As a result of this success, we have been invited to work alongside the WaitMate organisation to host a Principals’ Morning Tea for cluster schools in Week 6 at Westminster. The event will bring together school leaders, wellbeing staff, interested parents and four of our WaitMate champion parents, who will share their experiences and reflections with other schools beginning their own WaitMate journeys.
We are proud of the positive culture our families are helping create around responsible technology use and children’s wellbeing.
