Supporting Students with Disability Through National Data Collection
Supporting Students with Disability Through National Data Collection
Each year, all Australian schools participate in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD), an initiative designed to improve outcomes for children with disability.
The NCCD enables schools to record the type and level of adjustments they provide for students who require support due to a disability, as defined by the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and the Disability Standards for Education 2005.
These adjustments reflect what is already in place within the learning environment and are part of the School’s everyday teaching and support practices.
As part of the collection, Westminster will provide de-identified information to the Australian Government, including:
- Year of schooling
- Category of disability: physical, cognitive, sensory or social/emotional
- Level of adjustment provided: quality differentiated teaching practice, supplementary, substantial or extensive
The data collected helps to formally recognise the educational support being provided and contributes to broader government planning to meet the needs of students with disability across the country.
The NCCD is one of the ways Westminster is committed to inclusive education. By participating, we are contributing to a national effort to better understand and support the learning needs of all children.
