Westminster Spirit of ANZAC Walk | Sunrise to Sunset
On Friday 24 April 2026, we will come together to launch the Westminster Spirit of ANZAC Walk, a powerful new whole-School initiative.
Led by our Year 12 students, this 12-hour community event invites our community to walk side by side from sunrise to sunset, raising funds for the Andrew Russell Veteran Living Program and honouring the ANZAC spirit through action.
Year 12 students are invited to walk from sunrise to sunset. Students in Years 7 to 11 may participate before and after School with dedicated times during the day. Prep School students must be accompanied by a parent or carer before or after School hours and will be escorted to the Oval by their teachers at an allocated time.
Across the day, our grounds will become a place of reflection, shared stories and collective resolve.
The Westminster Spirit of ANZAC Walk invites us all to stand together, walk together and remember together.

Why This Initiative?
The Spirit of ANZAC Walk has been introduced to deepen our community’s understanding of service, sacrifice and responsibility.
While ANZAC Day encourages remembrance, the Westminster Spirit of ANZAC Walk calls our students to act. Led by our Year 12 cohort, the initiative reflects a simple but powerful principle: walk the walk, not just talk the talk.
For one full day, Westminster will immerse itself in recognition of the Army, Navy and Air Force and in appreciation of those who have served our nation. Through sustained effort and shared purpose, students will experience the strength of collective action and the impact it can have beyond our gates.
This event builds on Westminster’s strong tradition of community service. Over the past four years, our Walk for Tanzeed initiative raised more than $40,000 for families in need.
The Spirit of ANZAC Walk continues this legacy of meaningful, student-driven service.
What is the Andrew Russell Veteran Living Program?
Funds raised through the Westminster Spirit of ANZAC Walk will support the Andrew Russell Veteran Living Program (ARVL).
ARVL is a subsidiary of RSL Care SA and works to ensure that every ex-service person in South Australia who is homeless or at risk of homelessness has access to appropriate and affordable housing.
The program provides:
- Emergency accommodation for veterans who are homeless or at risk
- Long-term affordable housing for ex-service personnel and their dependents
- Partnerships with support providers to deliver wrap-around services that help residents build positive long-term outcomes
Importantly, 100 per cent of donations go directly to ARVL programs.
Westminster has chosen to support ARVL because it provides tangible, local assistance to those who have served our nation. It is a cause that aligns closely with the spirit of ANZAC, honouring service through practical care and long-term commitment.
