Digital Devices at Westminster

Westminster is adopting a zero-use policy for personal mobile and digital devices from the start of 2026 as part of a proactive step to support student wellbeing, focus and connection.

Designed to help students find balance in an increasingly digital world, the policy ensures digital devices, including phones, smartwatches, tablets and similar technology, are put away throughout the School day so students can re-engage with their learning, friendships and everyday School life.

Because when our students step away from their screens, they gain time. Time to learn, to collaborate and to engage in the world around them.

When digital devices must be stored?

All digital devices must be turned off and locked in lockers, and smartwatches set to Airplane or Do Not Disturb mode, as soon as students arrive on campus.
This remains in place until students leave at 3.30pm.

What devices are included?

The policy applies to all mobile and digital devices capable of connecting to a phone network or the internet, including phones, smartwatches and tablets.

Can students bring digital devices to School?

Yes, students can bring digital devices to School, but these must remain turned off and stored securely during the day. Smartwatches may be worn but must stay on Airplane or Do Not Disturb mode.

When digital devices can be used?

Devices may be used after school from 3:30 PM, but not during school hours, morning co-curricular activities, or school events such as excursions or camps.

If a student uses a digital device during the day

If a student is seen with a digital device during the day, it will be taken to the Senior School Office until the end of the day.
The student will also complete an after-school community service task between 3.30pm and 4.30pm.

Repeated breaches may result in the device needing to be collected by parents.

Canteen and Payment Options

2026 Payment Methods

2026 Payment Methods

From 2026, the School’s canteen will be physical card only. Parents and carers are encouraged to arrange cards early to ensure students are ready for the start of Term 1.

Cards can be sourced via banks or third-party providers such as Spriggy or others. These providers are not endorsed by the School and should be evaluated by families to determine what best suits their needs.
