Westminster Weekly - Edition 12
Preparatory School
Message from Head of Preparatory School, Simon McKenzie
Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope you’ve had a restful break and enjoyed some quality time with family over the School holidays. We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone back for the start of Term 2 next week.
A special welcome to the newest members of our community – James Hambleton (Year 3), Jesse Hershman (Year 3), Noah Hershman (Year 5) and Ryan Forster (Year 1). We’re delighted to have you join us at Westminster.
We’re also excited to be welcoming over 30 new Transition students who will begin their orientation visits this term, ahead of officially starting in Term 3.
Term 2 begins on Tuesday 29 April, with classes starting at 8.45 am. Classrooms open at 8.30 am and children can be dropped off from 8.20 am, when supervision begins. If your child arrives before 8.20 am, they’ll need to head to OSHC, as staff supervision is not available before then.
For those arriving after the bell, please remind your child to sign in using the iPads at either the Front Office or the Junior Primary Dining Hall. The roll is taken promptly at 8.45 am, and without signing in, an automated message may be sent to families – which can understandably cause some concern.
If your child needs to leave School during the day, please let both the Class Teacher and the Front Office know. All students must be signed out and back in again via the iPads if returning later.
Parent Teacher Interviews are coming up on Monday 28 April, from 1.00 pm to 6.00 pm. If you haven’t yet booked a time, please use the link here. Interviews are limited to 10 minutes, and if you feel more time is needed, you’re welcome to arrange a separate time to continue the conversation with your child’s teacher.
Just a quick reminder to please park with care around the School and avoid stopping in the turning circles near the ELC and Health Centre. Keeping these areas clear helps us ensure safe traffic flow and access for emergency services if needed.
There’s lots to look forward to this term, with a number of events and excursions already planned. Please be sure to check Westminster Weekly every Friday as this is the most up-to-date source of information.
We’re looking forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday morning, refreshed and ready for another great term ahead.
Warm Regards,
Simon McKenzie

Cross Country
Westminster’s annual Preparatory School Cross Country is set to take place on the Senior School Oval on Thursday 1 May 2025.
This much-loved event is an opportunity for every child from Reception to Year 6 to embrace movement, House spirit and personal achievement in a supportive and inclusive atmosphere.
All children from Reception to Year 6 will begin the afternoon by assembling in their House Groups at 1.30 pm on the Senior School Oval (Northern End). From there, each House will walk together and be seated in the Thomas Pavilion Stand, ready to cheer on their peers.
Children are required to wear their House top and to bring their running shoes, water bottle and a hat.
We welcome and encourage families to join us as spectators to cheer on the runners from the Thomas Pavilion Stand.
