Preparing for Camp

For many children, this may be their first night away from home. With your encouragement and support, it can be a positive and empowering experience. The following tips may help your child feel more prepared:

  • Explore the AFL Max website together and chat about the activities
  • Organise a sleepover with a trusted friend or relative
  • Involve your child in packing and preparing for camp
  • Pack a familiar comfort item, such as a toy or blanket
  • Encourage journaling as a way to reflect and unwind
  • Practise small responsibilities at home, such as tidying or drying dishes
  • Most importantly, share your excitement and talk positively about the experience

Your calm confidence can help reassure your child and build their sense of readiness.
