To maintain the health and safety of all students, the following requirements must be followed for all medication and medical needs on camp:
What is considered medication?
‘Medication’ includes:
- Prescribed or non-prescribed medications
- Over-the-counter medications
- Alternative therapies (such as vitamins, minerals or supplements)
Medication agreement
Westminster staff cannot administer medication unless a completed medication agreement is in place. This applies to all medications except when consent has been provided through Consent2Go for paracetamol, ibuprofen or antihistamines.
Parents or carers must complete either a Medication Agreement or Multiple Medication Agreement for students who require more than one medication. These forms must be submitted to the Westminster Health Centre at least one week prior to camp.
All medications must be:
- Supplied on the morning of departure
- In original packaging with a pharmacy label
- Provided in the quantity required for the duration of the camp
Asthma
Students who self-administer asthma medication may use the decision-making tool developed in partnership with Westminster nurses and parents. An up-to-date Asthma Action Plan must be uploaded to Consent2Go. If your child requires support with asthma, their Asthma Kit (inhaler and plan) will be taken from the Health Centre.
Anaphylaxis and allergies
Students with a diagnosed allergy or anaphylaxis must have:
- An up-to-date ASCIA Action Plan
- Emergency medication (e.g. adrenaline injector, antihistamines) stored in a personal emergency kit at the Health Centre
This kit will travel with your child on all excursions and camps.
Individual First Aid Plans
If your child’s first aid needs differ from standard protocols for their condition, please provide an Individual First Aid Plan completed by their treating health professional.
