Year 11 students need to rank the order of preferences for the free internal courses offered in two categories: Preparing for Life After School: Professionally and Preparing for Life After School: Thriving. In addition, students have the opportunity to apply for external accredited courses. Please note that if a student is successful in securing an external accredited course, this will take priority over any internal courses selected.

Barista Course

Barista Course

This full-day, off-site Barista course gives Year 11 students the opportunity to gain a practical skill that is highly valued in the workplace. Across the day, students will learn the essentials of coffee making, including how to operate an espresso machine, create a variety of café-style drinks, master coffee grinding and milk preparation, while practising quality customer service. By the end of the course, students will have developed confidence in a skill that can open doors to part-time work, future employment opportunities, and transferable customer service experience that will support them well beyond school.

Boat License

Boat License

The Boat Licence Course, delivered by Surf Life Saving South Australia (SLSSA), runs across two of the three available sessions and provides students with the knowledge and practical understanding needed to safely operate a recreational vessel. Through engaging, hands-on learning, students will cover essential water safety, navigation rules, and boating responsibilities. Successful completion of the course equips students with the skills required to apply for their boat licence, giving them a valuable qualification that supports both personal and future recreational opportunities. Students must be 16 years old as of 30 January 2026 to enrol in this course.

White Card Training

White Card Training

The full-day White Card training provides students with the mandatory accreditation required to work on construction sites across Australia. Delivered by a qualified trainer, the course covers essential topics such as workplace health and safety, hazard identification, risk management, and safe work practices. By the end of the day, students will not only gain a nationally recognised White Card but also develop valuable knowledge and skills that can support future employment in the construction industry or related fields.

Basic Sports Strapping

Basic Sports Strapping

The Basic Sports Strapping workshop introduces students to the fundamental techniques used to prevent and manage common sporting injuries. Across the session, students will learn how to correctly apply strapping for areas such as fingers, thumbs and ankles with a focus on safety, effectiveness, and practical skill development. This hands-on training is ideal for students interested in sport, coaching, health, or fitness, providing them with a valuable skill set that can support both personal participation and future pathways in sport or health-related fields.

Pool Rescue Certificate

Pool Rescue Certificate

The Pool Rescue Certificate, delivered by Surf Life Saving South Australia (SLSSA), is a full-day course designed to develop students’ aquatic safety and rescue skills. This course includes two certifications; HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and SISCAQU020 Perform water rescues. Participants will learn essential techniques such as in-water rescues, the use of rescue equipment, basic first aid, and safe approaches to managing emergencies in and around the pool. This nationally recognised qualification not only builds confidence and lifesaving skills but also provides an excellent foundation for students interested in pathways such as surf lifesaving, swimming instruction, or future roles in health, fitness, and community safety.

This session is designed to help students strengthen their employability by focusing on two key areas: crafting an effective resume and mastering interview techniques. Students will learn how to present their skills, experiences, and achievements clearly and professionally, while also gaining practical strategies for answering common interview questions, making a positive first impression, and demonstrating confidence. By participating in hands-on activities and mock interviews, students will leave the session with a polished resume and improved communication skills, ready to approach future job or work experience opportunities with greater confidence.

Tax Returns

This session introduces students to the fundamentals of tax and the process of completing a tax return. Students will learn about income, deductions, and obligations as taxpayers, as well as practical tips for accurately preparing and lodging a return. Through hands-on examples and guided activities, the session helps demystify the tax system, equipping students with the knowledge and confidence to manage their finances responsibly and understand an important aspect of adult life.

How to Use Social Media Professionally

This session explores how to use social media as a powerful tool for building a positive and professional online presence. Students will learn strategies for creating content that reflects their personal values and career goals, managing their digital footprint, and understanding the importance of online etiquette. The session also highlights how employers and organisations view social media, giving students practical tips on how to showcase their strengths, network effectively, and avoid common pitfalls. Balloon Animals

The Balloon Animal Making workshop is a creative, hands-on session where students learn the art of twisting and shaping balloons into a variety of fun designs, from dogs and swords to flowers and hats. Guided step by step, students will develop new skills in creativity, problem-solving, and fine motor coordination, while enjoying plenty of laughs along the way. This light-hearted activity is perfect for building confidence, working with others, and discovering a unique skill that can be shared with family, friends, or at community events.

Fitness on a Budget

The Fitness on a Budget session teaches students how to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle without spending a lot of money. Students will explore cost-effective ways to exercise, including bodyweight workouts, affordable equipment alternatives, and creative use of everyday items. The session also covers planning a balanced fitness routine, setting achievable goals, and understanding the basics of nutrition on a budget. By the end, students will have practical strategies to stay fit, make healthy choices, and take control of their wellbeing in an affordable, sustainable way.

Making a Cheap and Fast Meal

This session teaches students how to prepare quick, affordable, and nutritious meals, perfect for busy schedules and tight budgets. Students will learn practical skills such as meal planning, simple cooking techniques, and how to make the most of basic ingredients to create tasty dishes. Through hands-on cooking and easy-to-follow recipes, students will gain confidence in the kitchen, develop independence, and discover that eating well doesn’t have to be expensive or time-consuming.

Mindful Masterpieces

Mindful Masterpieces is a relaxing, hands-on session designed to help students unwind and focus through creative expression. Using guided art activities, students will engage in mindful techniques that encourage concentration, reduce stress, and promote a sense of calm. This session provides an opportunity to explore creativity while practising self-awareness and mental well-being, allowing students to leave feeling refreshed, centred, and inspired by their own creations.

Service

The Service Learning program gives students the opportunity to make a positive impact in the community while developing important personal and interpersonal skills. Through meaningful, hands-on projects, students engage in activities that foster empathy, social responsibility, teamwork, and leadership.

Wellbeing: Catch up and a Cuppa

The Catch Up and Cuppa wellbeing session provides students with a relaxed space to pause, connect, and recharge. Over a cup of tea, coffee, or hot chocolate, students can take time out from their busy schedules to chat with peers, share experiences, and enjoy some light-hearted conversation. This informal session is designed to promote connection, support positive relationships, and encourage a sense of balance and wellbeing within the school community.
