Please find below important information regarding the Beginning of the Year arrangements. Please see your child’s year level below to view where your child should go on the first morning.

Core Classes Years 7–10

Staff spend considerable time putting core class lists together based on many contributing factors. We are confident in the placement of students based on our understanding of individual learning and social strengths and challenges. As a result, core class changes will not be made. Students are encouraged to approach the year with a growth mindset and embrace opportunities to form new connections.

Subject Changes

We appreciate the time and effort students and families go to when deciding upon the course of study for the year ahead, especially in regard to electives. As a result, we base our timetable around these selections. This process begins about 6 months prior to the beginning of the new school year. Hence late changes are unlikely to be possible at this stage. While there may be some flexibility, this cannot be guaranteed and we encourage our students to show courage and be adventurous when engaging with their learning.

Prepare@West

All Years will return to School on Wednesday 28 January and spend time during Week 1 meeting their teachers and beginning their lessons. Week 1 will culminate on Friday with our Prepare@West program. This year students will engage in various learning programs to prepare students for the year and develop skills beyond the curriculum.

The achievement of micro credentials beyond the classroom helps students to gain skills to further support their future pathways and goals. More information will be provided to students on the first day. A general outline of the program for each year level can be viewed by accessing 2026 Prepare@West.

Students are able to wear their PE uniform on Friday to engage with the Prepare@West program.

School Photographs

The Senior School individual photographs for students are scheduled for Wednesday 28 January 2026. A catch-up day for students, including those on Westventure, is scheduled for Monday 9 February 2026. The required uniform for these photographs is the summer uniform with blazer.

Uniform

During Week 1, all students will wear their summer uniform, with the School blazer required on Wednesday for the Commencement Assembly. Uniform guidelines can be reviewed on the Parent Portal and on SEQTA under the Documents tab.

Families are asked to ensure students have all required uniform items, including the School hat. Dresses must be no shorter than the knee and no longer than mid-calf. Families are also asked to support compliance with the School’s hair regulations. Students whose hair does not meet the guidelines for style, length or colour will be required to have it altered.

Students may wear their shirt or dress to and from School. If an additional garment is worn, it must be the School blazer. The School jumper is not permitted as an outer garment when travelling to and from School during Terms 1 and 4, however it may be worn during the day. Students are required to wear blazers to Assembly and Chapel.

Laptops

All students in Years 4 to 12 are required to bring their laptop to School from the first day of Term 1. The laptop should be set up before the first day and fully charged each day it comes to School. Students may only use a tagged and tested laptop charger on campus. Single-day loan chargers are available from IT Services if required, however these should not be relied on for regular use.

Any enquiries regarding laptops can be directed to the IT Help Desk via laptop@westminster.sa.edu.au

General IT assistance enquiries can be directed to ITSupport@westminster.sa.edu.au

Mobile Phones

In 2026, the School adopts a zero-tolerance mobile phone policy. From arrival on campus until 3.30 pm, mobile phones must be stored in locked lockers.

If a student is seen with a mobile device during the school day, the device will be confiscated and taken to the Senior School Office. Families will be notified of an after-school community service activity for the student to complete. Repeated breaches will require families to collect the device from School.

If families need to contact their child during the day, please contact the Senior School Office on 08 8276 0251 or use email or SEQTA direct message.
