WestQuest Scuba Diving Experience
Venturing to the tropics, the WestQuest Scuba Diving Experience is designed to provide students with an opportunity to explore the remarkable Great Barrier Reef.
A fully guided liveaboard experience spanning four days and three nights, this WestQuest is conducted with qualified diving instructors from Pro Dive Cairns, where students will gain their PADI Open-Water Dive Certification. Students will experience up to 15 dives, including two during the night.
Dates
Saturday 17 July – Friday 23 July 2027
Cost
$2,500 including flights, accommodation, transfers, training and dive costs. ($800 non-refundable deposit billed. Placement on this trip is confirmed upon return of medical and waiver forms).
Please note, only 27 positions are available for this experience.
Transport
Return flights arriving and departing via Cairns.
Medical and Safety Information
Westminster School prioritises the health and safety of all students. Qualified staff will be present throughout the camp, and first aid kits will be readily available. Parents are required to complete the Consent2Go form, including any medical conditions or dietary requirements. For further information, please refer to our Medication and Medical Conditions page.
Accommodation
Due to the nature of this experience, students will be under direct supervision of Provide Cairns staff and Westminster teaching staff throughout the seven-day trip.
Students will be hosted at the Cairns Park Regis City Quays during nights 1, 2 and 6. Students will stay in 2-bedroom apartments and will be responsible for cooking their own meals.
Itinerary
Day 1
Fly into Cairns. Overnight accommodation at Cairns Park Regis City Quays.
Day 2
Pool based PADI Dive Training. Overnight accommodation at Cairns Park Regis City Quays.
Day 3
Dive activities GBR. Liveaboard on boat.
Day 4
Dive activities GBR. Liveaboard on boat. Night dive 1.
Day 5
Dive activities GBR. Liveaboard on boat. Night dive 2.
Day 6
AM dive, return to shore. Overnight accommodation at Cairns Park Regis City Quays.
Day 7
Return flight home.
Food Requirements
Catering will be provided onboard. Students will shop and self-cater with the assistance of staff during their stay in Cairns.
Packing List
Every item of clothing and equipment must fit into 1 x 20kg checked luggage bag. Thus, it is important that clothing and personal items are kept to a minimum.
Activities:
- 1 x pair suitable shoes for water activities - Crocs or Tevas
- 1 x pair lightweight sneakers for walking - wear on plane
- 1 x pair bathers - to wear under wetsuit
- 1 x long sleeve rash guard - compulsory to wear on boat and for pool training
- 1 x long sleeve shirt for boat
- 2 x pairs of shorts for boat
Daily:
- 2 x long sleeve shirts
- 1 x pair shorts
- 1 x pair long pants or leggings
- 1 x fleece or light down jacket
- 1 x track pants
- 1 x beanie
- 1 x compact rain jacket - Westminster can provide if needed

- A budget of $150 is recommended on a physical credit/debit card
