We understand that Year 12 students face a variety of demands on their time, including academic, co-curricular and social commitments. Balancing these responsibilities requires thoughtful organisation and planning. We encourage all students to remain actively involved in the co-curricular life of the School, as these experiences enrich their final year and provide valuable opportunities for growth.
To support students in making the most of their Year 12 journey, we have outlined housekeeping guidelines that will help ensure a smooth and well-structured year.
Key Dates
Monday 14 September - Letter of Affirmation Due
As part of our Graduation traditions, we invite families to submit a personal Letter of Affirmation for their Year 12 child (presented at the Graduation Ceremony) – a one-page message celebrating their growth, milestones and achievements.
The letter may be written by a parent, carer or another significant person in the student's life. Letters are confidential and will be given directly to the student.
Please place the letter in a sealed envelope marked:

The Last Day is a special opportunity for Year 12 students to come together as a cohort, express gratitude, and share meaningful moments with the teachers who have supported them throughout their journey at Westminster.
A dedicated timetable will be provided and students are expected to follow the day's schedule:
- 7.45 am – Breakfast
- 12.30 pm – Guard of Honour
- 1.00 pm – Celebratory lunch in the Thomas Pavilion
Year 12 students will be dismissed from the School at 1.30 pm.
Friday 23 October - Graduation Ceremony and Valedictory Dinner
Graduation Day is a treasured occasion for Year 12 students, their families, and the wider Westminster community – a time to reflect, honour and celebrate.
Dress Code
All students must wear either long pants, tie and blazer or summer dress and blazer.
Schedule
- 1.00 pm – Graduation Ceremony rehearsal (all students required)
- 2.00 pm – Year 12 Graduation Ceremony (RSVP link to be provided soon)
- 3.30 pm – Afternoon tea for Year 12 students and their families
- 6.00 for 6.30 pm – Valedictory Dinner at the Wolf Blass Event Centre, Morphettville (RSVP link to be provided soon)
Monday 26 October to Friday 30 October - Revision Week
During this study period, students are encouraged to connect with their teachers for guidance and support.
All students must wear correct School uniform when attending campus.
Monday 2 November to Friday 13 November - SACE examinations
Written examinations will take place over two weeks as per the SACE schedule and will be held in the Michael Murray Centre or Thomas Pavilion. View the timetable.
Students must arrive no later than 30 minutes prior to the start of each examination and wear correct School uniform.

Westminster Graduation Ring
Westminster is proud to mark the Graduation of the Class of 2026 with a commemorative gift – a Westminster Graduation Ring, proudly presented by the Westminster Old Scholars Association in partnership with the School.
Year 12 Guidelines
Absences for a Summative Assessment
If a student is absent from a summative test or assessment, they will require a doctor’s certificate to validate their absence. This ensures consistency and fairness across all subjects and holds students accountable.
Student Driving/Parking
Students driving to School and parking in the School grounds must complete a parking permit application and display their permit

Study Release
Private study lessons form part of each Year 12 student’s weekly timetable and are designed to support students to manage their learning independently and stay on track with academic requirements. Study Release is a privilege offered to eligible students with School approval and the support of parents and carers. Applications for Study Release open at the end of Week 5 of Term 1.
What is Study Release?
- Study Release allows eligible Year 12 students to be off site during private study lessons scheduled at the start or end of the School day.
- Students with private study at the beginning of the day may arrive in time for their first timetabled lesson. Students with private study at the end of the day may depart prior to their final timetabled lesson.
- Students are not permitted to leave School grounds during private study lessons scheduled in the middle of the School day
Eligibility for Study Release
To be eligible students must meet the following criteria during the first five weeks of Term 1:
- No outstanding or late assessments
- No negative academic concerns recorded on SEQTA
- Attendance above 90 percent
Application process
- Students complete the Study Release application form, click here to download
- Applications are reviewed by the Head of Senior Students Head of House and relevant teachers
- Students are advised of the outcome by their Head of House
Conditions of Study Release
- Sign in and out at the Senior School Office when arriving or departing
- Attend House Meetings Chapel Wellbeing@West and Assembly
- Maintain attendance of at least 90 percent of timetabled lessons
- Maintain strong study habits and meet all assessment deadlines
Failure to comply with these conditions will result in Study Release being withdrawn.
Travel arrangements and responsibility
Students must nominate their approved mode of transport to and from School as part of their application. Permission must be sought from the Head of the Senior School or Head of Senior Students to use any transport method other than that approved. Parents and carers assume all legal responsibility while students are travelling to and from School under these arrangements.
Absence notification
In the event of absence due to illness or other reasons normal absence notification procedures must be followed by contacting the Senior School Office.
Signing In/Out
In addition to Study Release arrangements, students are required to follow the School’s signing in/out protocols when arriving later, leaving early or attending appointments.
