Supervision and Respect on School Grounds
At Westminster we greatly value the strong sense of community that comes from families spending time together on our campus.
After-school moments on our playgrounds and grounds are a wonderful way for children to connect with friends and for families to build relationships.
To support this, we kindly ask that all interactions between children and adults remain positive, considerate and respectful so that Westminster continues to be a place where everyone feels safe and supported.
We also remind families that staff supervision in the Preparatory School is provided between 8.20 am and 3.45 pm. If a Prep School child is on campus outside these times, they will need to be booked into Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) or be directly supervised by an adult family member. Children attending a before or after school activity will, of course, be supervised by the staff leading that activity.
To book into OSHC, please contact our OSHC Director, Tayla King, at tking@westminster.sa.edu.au
Thank you for your continued support in helping Westminster remain a safe, respectful and welcoming environment for all.

Prep Picks: Prep School Book Club
In 2025, the Preparatory School is launching Prep Picks — a new initiative designed to share valuable wellbeing resources with our families.
Whether it’s a book, podcast or article, each selection will be thoughtfully chosen by staff to offer practical insights into how we can support our children to thrive.
Our first pick is The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt — a timely and research-driven exploration of how screens and social media are impacting child development.
The book offers hopeful and practical strategies for families around the following:
- Delay smartphone and social media use
- Encourage outdoor play and real-world independence
- Prioritise sleep and healthy routines
- Build shared family values around technology
I encourage you to explore this thought-provoking book — and I look forward to continuing the conversation as Prep Picks unfolds.
