Westminster Weekly - Edition 14
Sturt Grove Farm Goat Meat and Award-Winning Shiraz
The Sturt Grove Farm Shop will open from Friday 19 May for the rest of Term 2, offering the Westminster community the opportunity to enjoy exceptional produce grown and crafted by students.
From next week, the highly anticipated Westminster Goat will be available in a variety of cuts. These goats were part of our Year 9 Agriculture program, where students conducted a feed trial comparing a grain mix with pellets.
The goats were processed by Brighton City Meats, then cryovacced and frozen at the Sturt Grove Farm Shop.
Goat products available include:
- Goat loin chops – $17/kg
- Goat shoulder (diced, bone-in) – Limited supply at $17/kg
- Goat ribs – $8 per packet
- Goat forequarter chops – $15/kg (ideal for curry)
- Goat offcuts – Around $10 per packet (great for slow-cooked or curry dishes)
- Goat necks and shanks – Mixed sizes, approx. $15–$20 per packet (great for slow-cooked or curry dishes)
- Goat leg chops – $15/kg (great for slow-cooked or curry dishes)
The Sturt Grove Farm Shop will be open every Friday (from 19 May) between 3.00 pm and 5.00 pm, unless otherwise notified.
Throughout the term, a range of new offerings will be introduced, with all proceeds from sales going directly back into the Westminster Agricultural program.
This will also be a final opportunity to purchase the award-winning Westminster Shiraz. With only 200 bottles remaining, this limited vintage was crafted by students using grapes from the School’s own vineyard.
