Celebrating Defining Moments in Westminster Sport
Last weekend, we saw a number of exceptional personal and team performances to kick off the winter sport season. From the courts to the pitches, the energy and School pride was unmistakable, yet it was the Year 8 Football team that stood out—not just for their result, but for a moment that truly captured the spirit of what it means to play sport at Westminster.
In their match against Sacred Heart, the team secured a comprehensive victory. However, the true highlight wasn’t on the scoreboard. It came when a Charlie Wilson kicked their his first goal in Westminster football, sparking spontaneous celebration from every teammate on the field.
The joy was genuine, heartfelt and uplifting—an unforgettable moment of connection and encouragement.
It’s these experiences that speak directly to one of Westminster’s core objectives for School Sport: Celebrating defining experiences and successes. Success, after all, is not always measured in points or goals but in the impact we have on each other and the memories we create together.
At our Football Season Launch the week prior, Old Scholar and South Adelaide SANFL player Tom Wheaton (’23) joined us as guest speaker, where he offered valuable insight for our students - “It is not what you say or do that matters most but how you make people feel.”
That message came to life on the weekend. In one beautiful moment, our students reminded us all what Westminster Sport is really about—belonging, support and the power of meaningful connection.
