Westminster Weekly - Edition 21
Senior School
Welcome to Term 3
I hope the recent break was a refreshing and enjoyable time for you and your family. With many of our students taking part in overseas and local trips, we look forward to hearing their stories from the snowfields, the streets of Paris and the outback of South Australia as Term 3 begins.
This term is especially significant for our Year 12 students as they embark on their final full term of Schooling at Westminster. We hope the holiday period provided them with the opportunity to recharge ahead of an important 10-week stretch. The Senior School calendar remains vibrant and full throughout the term, and we look forward to seeing many families at upcoming events.
Key Events – Weeks 1 to 5
Week 2: Old Scholars Week and Australia Made Dance Performance
We are proud to welcome back the Class of 1965 as we mark their 60-year reunion. Our Year 12 students will also have the opportunity to connect with former students at the annual Old Scholars Breakfast, fostering valuable intergenerational connections within our community.
Also in Week 2, join us for Australian Made, a celebration of creativity and expression, presented by our SACE Stage 2 and VET Dance students. Book now.
Week 3: Cut for Cancer
A much-loved initiative returns as a number of Year 12 and Year 6 students cut their hair in support of cancer research. Notifications will be shared soon with information on how to support this important cause.
Week 4: ABODA Music Festival
Our music students will represent Westminster in this prestigious interschool event. Performances will take place across the week and we look forward to sharing their achievements.
Week 5: Intercol Week and Book Week
Westminster will proudly host Intercol Week this year, with a full program of sporting fixtures culminating on Saturday 23 August. A detailed schedule will be shared in due course.
Also in Week 5, our Senior and Preparatory Schools will take part in Book Week celebrations, with students dressing up on Thursday 21 August. This year’s theme, Book an Adventure, promises plenty of colour and creativity.
Looking ahead, Term 3 will also feature our Senior Drama production and participation in the Royal Adelaide Show during Week 7.
Uniform Reminders
A final reminder that students are expected to wear the School blazer to and from School each day during Term 3. Year 12 students may wear their Year 12 jumper. Staff will continue to monitor uniform and grooming standards, including hair length, jewellery, tie presentation and skirt length. Students who do not meet expectations will be issued with community service. We appreciate your ongoing support in maintaining these standards.
We look forward to welcoming students back to School on Tuesday 22 July.

Exploring Futures: 2025 Career Expo at Westminster
Westminster’s 2025 Career Expo will take place on Tuesday 22 July 2025, from 4.00 to 7.30 pm, offering a valuable opportunity for students and families to explore a wide range of post-School pathways.
Held in the Forder Centre, the Expo brings together an impressive line-up of exhibitors from across the tertiary education sector, industry, specialist colleges and training providers.
Years 10-12 Senior School students will benefit greatly from the opportunity to connect with tertiary and industry representatives as they consider their future direction. Younger Senior School students and families are also encouraged to attend, using the Expo as a starting point for long-term exploration and planning.
At 4.30 pm, Principal Simon Shepherd will officially welcome attendees and open the evening, which includes a schedule of presentations from various institutions and organisations.
These sessions offer insights into career trends, emerging industries and study options both locally and nationally.
Whether students are considering university study, vocational training or are still discovering their interests, the event is designed to spark ideas and provide practical tools for informed decision-making.
The Career Expo is a free event, however bookings are requested to assist with planning and venue capacity.
