Project WISER is about making everyday work easier across our School.

We are improving how our systems work together so staff can spend less time entering the same information, searching for answers and working around disconnected processes.

WISER stands for Westminster Information Systems Evolution and Reform. It brings together staff expertise from across the School to create better ways of working and a more connected experience for students and families. The primary scope of the project is to implement a new Student Information System (SIS) and student Learning Management System (LMS) but it will also look at the various other platforms that work alongside these two core systems.

Project cohesion and direction is governed by our guiding principles which have been established to keep us equally focused on process as well as outcomes.

All our systems and platforms belong to Westminster as a collective and every area of the School has a part to play in shaping how they support our work.

The website will be updated as the project progresses and will follow progress, help you to understand upcoming changes and find opportunities to contribute.

Why we are making this change

Better systems should give us more time for the work that matters

Westminster’s systems have grown over time to meet different needs. Many have served us well. As our School has evolved, the connections between them have become more complex.

Staff feedback and independent reviews identified repeated data entry, information held in different places and processes that vary across teams. This can make straightforward tasks take longer than they should.

WISER responds to these challenges. Our aim is to make information easier to access and maintain while reducing unnecessary administration.

This will take more than introducing new software. We also need to agree how we work together, who maintains information and which system we use for each task.

The result we are working towards is practical: less repetition, clearer processes and more time for supporting students and our School community. The project has five strategic drivers:

  1. Educational Excellence and Innovation
  2. Operational Excellence
  3. Community Experience
  4. Decision Intellegence
  5. Digital Trust and Security

What this means for all of us.

The changes will look different across roles. Some staff will use the new Student Information System (SIS) regularly, others will be more regular users of the student Learning Management System (LMS). Others will experience improvements through the systems connected to it.

The project scope includes:

  • Modernisation of the Student Information System and Learning Management System.
  • Review of connected applications for interoperability, privacy, cyber security, data integrity and governance.
  • Redesign and standardisation of priority workflows, integrations, reporting and data ownership.
  • Governance of digital identities, role-based access, school digital imagery and school-affiliated social media groups and accounts.

As workflows are confirmed, we will explain what is changing for your area, when it will happen and how you will be supported.

Your experience matters. A process that looks straightforward on paper still needs to work in the reality of a busy School day, but together we will build a stronger system to improve what we do and how we do it.
