One of Westminster’s earliest staff members was destined to become an internationally acclaimed opera singer

Thomas Edmonds joined Westminster as a foundation staff member in 1961 before becoming Deputy Headmaster in 1965.

By the end of the decade, students gathered to watch their Deputy Headmaster perform on television as an opera singer, with Westminster students even appearing as extras in productions alongside him.

Early 1968, he performed in the Australian television series, ‘Showcase’, winning eight successive grand finals with both the Judges’ Prize and Viewers’ Prize. His success launched an internationally acclaimed opera career that would take him to stages across the world.
