Westminster Weekly - Edition 13
Message from Deputy Principal and Head of Senior School, Andrew Whiteman
Dear Parents and Carers
A warm welcome back to all our Senior School families. I trust you were able to enjoy the break over the school holidays and spend valuable time together.
Please note in advance that in 2026, Term 1 will run for 10 weeks only, with the School term concluding on Easter Thursday.
We congratulate the students and thank the staff involved in the Outdoor Education and Duke of Edinburgh camps held over the past two weeks. Wonderful memories were created during the following trips: climbing at Mt Arapiles, bushwalking on Kangaroo Island and sea kayaking on the Fleurieu Peninsula.
Students have commenced Term 2 with a moving ANZAC Day Service, held on Wednesday. Captain Marion James and Captain Jess Allan attended the service, spoke of their time in the defence force, and invited our students to reflect on those currently serving around the world. On Thursday and Friday this week, the House Cross Country events were held — it was rewarding to see students participate with such enthusiasm and spirit.
We wish our music students all the best as they head to Generations in Jazz this weekend. This much-anticipated event is a highlight on the School calendar. Our staff and students have dedicated many hours to rehearsals, and we are confident they are well prepared to deliver a stellar showcase of their skills.
There is much to look forward to this term, including:
- Year 7 Camp: Weeks 2 & 3
- Boarders Week: Week 3 (includes Dress Like a Farmer Thursday)
- Swimming Carnival: Week 3
- Year 8 Camp: Week 4 & 6
- Year 12 Drama Performance: Week 6
- Sing Sing Sing: Week 7
- Combined Schools Music Festival: Week 8
- Stage 1 Exam Week: Week 8
- Year 11 Work Experience: Week 9
We look forward to a positive and productive Term 2.
Kind regards
Andrew Whiteman
