Student Achievements - Edition 15 - 2018

Congratulations to the following students on their achievements...

This year, during AIME sessions, students got to show case their special talents. Deena Warren and Maddy Rasmussen sung together and were consequently selected to go to Sydney for the AIME end of year Gala Ball, from Tuesday 23 to Friday 26 October. Deena and Maddy have the opportunity to sing a song of their choice together at the AIME Gala Ball.

This year, our Year 8s competed in the Readers Cup Challenge. The winning team was from 8NMS, and included Cameron Chau (Fricker), Gracie Greenrod (Fereday), Mattias McCarthy (Jeffries), and Vicki Stephens (Fricker). Congratulations!

Congratulations to the following students who won first place in the InterSchool Cross Country 13 year old Boys’ team last term - Brad Shepherd (Year 8 Dunstan), Rocco McNeill-Kovacic (Year 8 Forder), Daniel Shepherd (Year 8 Woollacott), and Riley Hill (Year 8 Woollacott)

Jarryd Hoppo (Year 12 Fereday) has been selected for the 2019 Under 20 Men's State Team, to represent South Australia at next year's Under 20 and Ivor Burge Australian Championships. Well done, Jarryd, an outstanding achievement.

Jason Konstandopoulos (Year 9 Clark) has been selected for the Adelaide United Youth Soccer Team. Congratulations Jason.

Casey Buchanan (Year 12 Kelly) came third in the recent All Schools Competition, in the 2k Steeple Chase event. Additionally, Casey achieved second place in the Under 18 800m. Well done Casey.

Gemma Dandie (Year 10 Fereday) has been selected as one of 50 students Australia-wide to perform in the pilot of a new musical, “Sister Act Junior”. Broadway Directors of ITheatrics from New York are running the event. Kids up to the age of 18 around Australia have auditioned to have the opportunity to work with these directors. Gemma was asked to audition for a named role and we are very proud to announce that she won the lead role of Delores, played in the Sister Act movie by Whoopi Goldberg. Congratulations Gemma!

Rebecca Haynes (Year 11 Woollacott) has been accepted into the 2018 Wingara Mura – Bunga Barrabugu Summer program, 'A thinking path to make tomorrow', at the University of Sydney. Rebecca has been offered a place with the Natural Science and Engineering Stream in December 2018.

Congratulations to our Sailing Team who won the 2018 Interdominion Sailing Championships in New Zealand during the holidays. The team included Alex Higgins as Captain, Matthew Meaney, Quinn Auricht, Byron Robertson, Chelsea Higgins, Angus Higgins and Harry Higgins.

Mathematical Challenge for Young Australians

Australian Student Citizenship Awards

Congratulations to Year 12 student Heidi Collins who was presented with a Highly Commended certificate for the Australian Student Citizenship Awards during Assembly last week. Heidi was presented her award by Judith Leeson AM, a Fellow and Life Member of the Career Development Association of Australia.

Thank you to Judith for presenting the award, and well done to Heidi, an outstanding achievement!
